Taking Away Tinnitus Symptoms through Acupuncture

Do you suffer from tinnitus, or persistent ringing in your ears? If you do, you might be curious about acupuncture treatment for tinnitus. Does it work? Will it help you?

Acupuncture’s total effectiveness in treating tinnitus in patients is still being proven with official tests and studies within the medical community, but we can attest that countless patients have found acupuncture to be one of the most effective ways to deal with this condition, especially since there aren’t many other reliable treatments options out there.

Unfortunately, tinnitus is oftentimes difficult to detect and treat, especially since it can have various causes which, in turn, means treatments for tinnitus aren’t always 100 percent effective. But there has been some research that shows that acupuncture can dramatically help to provide relief to tinnitus symptoms.

Acupuncture is especially effective for tinnitus caused by:

  • Loud Noise Exposure
  • Stress
  • Neck and Shoulder Tension
  • TMJ

One such study, which was performed by the Central Hospital of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery showed that 10 different acupuncture points provides an 80 percent effective rate of symptom relief, while another six acupoints provided 50 percent efficacy at relieving tinnitus symptoms. The patients tested as part of the study had a form of somatic tinnitus associated with cervical disorders, or issues caused by other issues with head, neck or dental health.

Acupressure.com says that tinnitus, if not caused by trauma to the body, is often the result of stress binding the liver meridian or depleted energy flow to the kidney meridian. When certain areas in the ear and base of the skull are massaged, the effects of tinnitus can be lessened, but the best way to get rid of that pesky ringing in your ears is to undergo a few acupuncture treatments.

We offer acupuncture treatments for a number of ailments, including tinnitus. Our patients have had decreased symptoms after acupuncture, and we’d like you to experience the same reduction in ringing. Patients noted a decrease in volume of the ringing, frequency changed from constant to intermittent, and pitch changed from high to low or from a hiss to a dull roar – making tinnitus easier to live with.

If you’re a little bit worried about having your first acupuncture treatment, remember this: we perform this centuries-old practice which has been honed and improved over generations. If this treatment can alleviate your symptoms, isn’t it worth a shot?
