Destressing for the Holidays

Every year, as the holiday season approaches, we find ourselves saying “yes” more than usual: yes to more commitments, family obligations, social activities, and yes to a larger workload. As pressure mounds, a chaotic internal environment is created, often leading to worsening health problems. The good news is that you have the power to reverse this.

At WellStream Acupuncture, we include the following de-stressing therapy treatments in your acupuncture session, and each are designed to target different stress points.

Five Element Music Therapy Destressing for the Holidays

Sound therapy is based on an ancient Chinese medicine practice that unites natural elements (wood, metal, fire, water, and earth) with corresponding organs of the body (liver, lung, heart, kidney, and spleen). The sounds created by each element are intended to vibrate and resonate with the body’s energy pathways and release stress in the targeted organ in a slow, natural rhythm.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy, also known as essential oil therapy, is designed to connect the physiological, psychological, and spiritual processes of the body. By harmonizing all three processes through the medicinal use of essential oils (such as lavender for stress, chamomile for anxiety, and clary sage for fertility), a greater state of qi is achieved, and the body, mind, and spirit become reinvigorated.

Cupping Massage

Cupping therapy is another Chinese medicine ritual used to release toxins in the body and bring relaxation to muscles and mind. At WellStream Acupuncture, moving cupping technique with hot oil is employed. This style of cupping is more of a massaging technique rather than the standard dry cupping.

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed, not dreaded. Changing your mindset is the first step in being proactive about your plan of treatment. Let WellStream Acupuncture help you destress for the holidays!
